Taxing demands with old school charm
The Old School, Stanwick
Countryside Alliance Award winners Old School, Stanwick is a small business with a big vision shared and understood by 10 Chartered Accountants.
Old School Stanwick is a newly converted convenience store, Post Office and bistro.
Joint partners Vernon Frost, Steve Ware and Neil Brailsford moved across the road, from a small shop and Post Office that was struggling to compete with large supermarket chains outside the village, into the Old School in April 2012.
“When the word got out that the local church was selling the old village hall, we pounced and snapped up the property,” explained Vernon.
“We knew the property needed extensive work to revive the building, however with trusted local village tradesmen to take on the work, the Old School was fully rejuvenated and we now have a successful shop and thriving bistro, right at the heart of the community.”
“10 Chartered Accountants share our vision and allow us to work for the business while 10 Chartered Accountants works on the business. They control the financial side of things without the surprises we have experienced with other accountants.”
The Old School shop and bistro is seeing rapid growth with talks of expansion, building a bar and conservatory for a relaxed lounge area to complement the existing heart-warming atmosphere that is created by a community environment.
David, Luke, Jan and the team from 10 Chartered Accountants have worked closely with Vernon and his partners to ensure they understand their financial position by preparing their annual accounts, tax returns and offering general tax planning advice.
“The 10 Chartered Accountants team are very upfront with me and talk with no accountancy jargon” said Vernon. “That means I can trust each decision we make and have complete confidence in what we are doing.”
“10 Chartered Accountants people act very much in the way our customers do. They are friendly and all round nice people. They have helped make a financially challenging process plain and simple and that has allowed us to become very popular amongst locals!”
